A Slice of Comfort: My Love for Pumpkin Pie
There’s something magical about the holiday season; that magic tastes like pumpkin pie for me. I don’t know if it’s the warmth of the spices or the creamy texture, but pumpkin pie has held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve made it my tradition to bake pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometimes even Easter—it’s just that good!
But here’s the secret: while I’d love to take credit for my recipe, it’s actually a blend of two classics. I combined elements from a 1950s old-fashioned pumpkin pie recipe and another called Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Pumpkin Pie (not my grandma’s, though). Together, they create a perfect balance of nostalgia and rich flavor.
I typically like to make my pie crusts from scratch but trust me, store-bought crusts work just as well if you’re short on time. The goal is to enjoy the process, not stress over perfection.
Why I Love This Recipe
This pie is rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The blend of warm cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves makes your kitchen smell like the holidays. Whether it’s paired with a dollop of whipped cream or enjoyed plain, this pie never fails to bring comfort and joy to my table.

Pumpkin Pie Recipe
This recipe yields two delicious pies, so there’s plenty to share—or to keep for yourself!
Ingredients:
2 (9-inch) unbaked pie crusts
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups pumpkin puree
1 ½ cups heavy cream
Sprinkle of flour (optional)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425°F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix lightly until just combined.
Add the pumpkin puree and gradually pour in the heavy cream, mixing as you go. If you want a slightly thicker consistency, sprinkle in some flour and mix lightly.
Pour the mixture evenly into the two pie crusts.
Place the pies in the oven and bake at 425°F for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 350°F and bake for 40–60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the pies to cool completely before serving.
Slice, serve, and enjoy a moment of holiday bliss!
